Recipe: True Grit and Gold Rush

I learned to love the True Grit at the Wylder in Boise. Yum.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz Honey Simple Syrup
  • Chili Flakes
  • Lemon peel for garnish

Directions:

In a shaker with ice, add all four ingredients: bourbon, lemon juice, honey simple syrup, chili flakes.

Shake well and strain over an ice rock in a bucket. I tend to do a fine filter strain to keep chili flakes out of the drink, but that is optional.

Garnish with a wide slice of lemon peel, with chili flakes on top.

Tip #1: pour some of your honey simple syrup in another jar, and add chili flakes, and let is soak in for a few days... so you have a chili honey simple syrup.

Tip #2: The Gold Rush is simply the same recipe, without the chili flakes
